The rules are simple: 1. To be eligable for the 2008 Cool Pool Racing Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year award, a player can not have started in anymore than 10 races in the Cool Pool Racing Sprint Cup Series. 2. The highest finishing rookie will receive ten (10) points, while the second highest will receive nine (9) points. This will continue down through the 10th rookie, who will receive one (1) point. 3. If a rookie contender wins the race, that player will receive a three (3) point bonus, giving him/her a total of 13 points for the race. 4. If a rookie contender wins the pole, that player will receive a two (2) point bonus on their race total. 5. If a rookie contender sits on the outside pole (second position), that player will receive a one (1) point bonus on their race total. 6. The highest amount of points in a race any rookie contender can get is 15 points. 7. Each players' best 26 finishes in the Nationwide Series will count in the final Rookie of the Year standings. Each player's nine (9) lowest scoring races (roughly 25%) will be dropped to allow some margin of error for "rookie" mistakes. Race Entry List: For each race, Cool Pool Racing players will submit picks. There will be a link on the top of every week's 'groups' page with the race's entry list. Weekly Groups: In 2008, players will submit picks for every race. The groups were voted on by players and council members, and will be constructed as follows: 1. There will be 5 groups to choose from, and every player MUST choose a driver from each group. 2. Group 1 will consist of the top 5 drivers in Nationwide Series points that are not a part-time NWide-wacker. 3. Group 2 will consist of drivers 6 - 10 in the Nationwide Series points that are not a part-time NWide-wacker. 4. Group 3 will consist of drivers 11 - 15 in the Nationwide Series points that are not a part-time NWide-wacker. 5. Group 4 will consist of drivers 16 - 20 in the Nationwide Series points that are not a part-time NWide-wacker. This group will also have a "write in" option, where you may write in anyone who is not already in one of the previous 4 groups, and who is not a part-time NWide-wacker. 6. Group 5 will consist of all (part-time) NWide-wackers on that week's entry list. (This group may get very large at some tracks.) Please note that full-time NWide-wackers David Reutimann, Carl Edwards, Clint Bowyer and David Ragan will be included in Groups 1-4 as they stand in the points. They will not be included in Group 5 unless they announce they are not driving full-time in the Nationwide Series anymore. To go to the groups page and send picks, click HERE. Community Forum: The Cool Pool has a message forum for all of the players in all of the pools. It is recommended that each player in each of the pools gets an account on the forum, as the administrators for the pools will be in contact with everyone on the forum. To go to the forum and make an account, or to just read around, click HERE. Picks Deadline: Each week picks are due, there is a Thursday night (11:59pm EST) deadline {Unless noted otherwise}. You may change any of your drivers up until the deadline. Once the deadline has passed, you may not change your picks under any circumstances. Any player who fails to submit picks by the stated deadline, will have their highest finishing driver's score dropped. Any player who doesn't submit picks before 11:59pm on the night before the race will not be allowed to submit a set of picks and will use their picks for the most recent race, and will receive half (1/2) of the race points for that week. Scoring: Determining a Winner: Each player will choose 5 drivers per race. The way we get a total for a winner is by adding your 5 drivers total points up, and that number will be your total "race points" for the race. Determining a Pole Winner: Qualifying uses all 5 of your drivers. All 5 starting positions added up is your qualifying total. The lowest total is better, and will be crowned pole winner for that race. The pole winner will receive an extra 20 points on their race total, and the outside pole sitter will receive an extra 10 points on their race total. *If qualifying is rained out, the season points will determine the lineup. The pole winner will NOT receive 20 bonus points, and 2nd position will NOT receive 10 extra points. IMPORTANT NOTE: You are picking the CAR, not the DRIVER in this series. If someone is on the Entry List, but doesn't race, you will still receive the points for the driver who raced that car that weekend. Determining a Season Champion: All 35 races added up will be the season standings. The player with the highest total points at the end of 35 races will be the 2008 Cool Pool Racing Nationwide Series Champion! Tie Breaking: In a Race & Qualifying: If there is a tie in a race or qualifying session, the players choice of a tie breaker will break the tie. Whoever's driver finishes ahead of the others, wins that tie. If the players who tied have the same tie breaker, the player highest in points entering the race will win the tie. In the points: If there is a tie in the point standings, the player with the most wins will win the tie. If the two players are tied with wins, it will go top 5's, top 10's and if all else fails, whoever was highest in points the previous race. Race Errors/Changes: There will be a one week window where points can change after a race. If you add up your points and find an error, let Greg or Will know within 7 days after the checkered flag and action will be taken to fix that error. After 7 days, the results are frozen and can no longer be changed. Rules Changes: The Owner has the right to change or amend any rule during the season. Most likely any change that occurs will happen before a race and will not affect the outcome of the previous one. Any rule change will be posted on the site and/or e-mailed to all members. |
