| Welcome to the 2009 - 2010 Cool Pool Hockey League |
| The Griffins Soar to Victory! It came down to week 3 of the championship game, but the Grand Rapids Griffins and rookie coach Bill Leroy were able to defeat the Springfield Falcons 2 games to 1 to win their first Cool Pool Hockey League championship. It was Leroy's first Cool Pool championship. The first two weeks of the championship game were split between the two teams, the Griffins winning week 1 by 1 point, and the Falcons winning week 2 by 3 points. Week 3 came along and both teams struggled for wins. The Falcons only picked two games correct for the week, and the Griffins picked 4 correct. The final point tally was the Griffins (-5) and the Falcons (-11). It was a great season for the Cool Pool Hockey League. We once again had a large turnout with 20 teams in the lineup. 2008-09 Champ Will Riney was looking to make the 2009-2010 season his third championship in the four years of the Cool Pool Hockey League. However Coach Riney and the South Carolina Stingrays failed to make the playoffs, posting a 6-8 record. It was a successful season for many teams, as 12 of 20 teams posted .500 or better records. All four division champions had records of 9-5. The Springfield Falcons sported the best record and weekly points total (47 points). The heartbreak award goes to the Hartford Wolfpack. The Wolfpack had a 9-5 regular season record, but because the Wild Card is awarded to the team with the highest weekly points total, they missed out on the post season. The most disappointing part of the 2009-2010 season was the forfeits. The Indiana Ice and Waterloo Blackhawks won't be invited back for the 2010-2011 season after combining for 6 forfeits during the season. Thanks to everyone who made the 2009-2010 Cool Pool Hockey League season one of the best and most competitive. The Cool Pool Hockey League will return for the 2010-2011 season looking much like it did this season. We look forward to having everyone back! See the full 2010 Playoffs Picks/Results HERE.
