Team Name:
Players must select a name for their team. Names must be appropriate, approved by the staff and cannot be the same as an existing NFL team. Examples are Greg’s Green Monsters or Will’s Wombats.

Schedule and Divisions:
After the season sign-up deadline has been reached, a round robin schedule will be developed. The Football Cool Pool regular season will be run during the NFL's weeks 1-13. NFL weeks 14-17 will constitute the Football Cool Pool Playoffs. Teams will be randomly split into two 16 team divisions with four divisions each (based on a 32 team league).

Season Team:
Your “Season Team” is a team that you choose at the beginning of the season that will count towards your score every week. Each week when that team wins, loses or ties, you will earn or lose points based on their performance. A win by your “Season Team” earns you 2 points, a tie 1 point and a loss is -1 point. Be sure and choose your “Season Team” wisely, as you will only be allowed to change it once per season. Your “Season Team” may not be changed after week 13 of the regular season.

Your Season team will earn 1 point on your bye week. However, if you change Season Teams, and your first Season Team already had its bye, you will get 0 points on your second Season Team’s bye week.

Game of the Week:
Each week the League Commissioners will select a game as a “Game of the Week”. This game will be worth 3 points for a win and 0 points for a loss.

Changing weekly picks:
If you wish to make a change to your picks, you must do so before the normal Saturday 9:00PM deadline. No picks will be changed after the deadline has passed. Please make a note that there are Thursday night games on weeks 1, 12-16 and Saturday games on weeks 15-17. During those weeks, the Deadline will be Thursday at 12:00PM (for weeks 1 and 12 - 16) or Friday at 9:00PM (week 17).

Missing/Late weekly picks:
If your picks are not received before the deadline, you will lose any Thursday, Friday or Saturday games depending on when your picks are received. You will also lose your “Season Team” score for the week. If your picks are missed completely, you are effectively forfeiting the game to your opponent. If you miss sending in your picks twice, your team will be taken over by the league and given to one of the players on the waiting list. If you will not have access to a computer in time to enter weekly picks, please email Greg or William to discuss this.

Game Cancellation/Postponement:
If a game is cancelled/postponed that game will be thrown out for all players on the week it was cancelled or postponed. The game will be picked by all players on the week it is rescheduled if/when it is ever played.

Scoring:
Determining Weekly Winners:
All player will choose the winner of every game each week. A game where you correctly picked the winner is worth 1 point. A game where you did not correctly choose the winner is worth 0 points. Monday night games will be worth 2 points for a   win and 0 points for a loss. Your weekly point total is determined by adding the amount of weekly wins you have, plus your “Season Team” results, plus your “Game of the Week” results. For example, if you chose 5 games correct, plus your “Season Team” wins, but you lose the “Game of the Week”, your weekly score would be 7. If you outscore your opponent, you will be credited with a win for that week.

Weekly Points:
Regardless of which team wins a particular weekly match-up, both teams will get to keep their weekly points. Weekly points are earned from totaling your correct games plus “Game of the Week” and “Season Team” points.

Scoring Discrepancies and Errors:
If you find a problem with the scoring for a week, you must let Greg or William know immediately. All scores become final once the first game of the next week begins, or after 7 days. Score checking will be done by two to three Cool Pool officials each week to insure that each team’s correct score and “Weekly Points” are counted.

Determining a Regular Season Champion:
The 2007 Football Cool Pool League Regular Season Champion will be the team with the most wins in the regular season.  In the event of a tie in the amount of regular season wins, the team with the most total weekly points will be the winner. If both teams have the same amount of total weekly points, then the regular season record of their season team will be the tie breaker.

Determining Teams Making the Playoffs:
Based on a 32 team league, the 4 divisional winners in each conference will earn playoff berths. These teams will be ranked 1through 4 based on their win/lose records. The teams in each of the two conferences with the highest total weekly point count will earn the 5th and 6th playoff spots. These will be the wild card spots. Wild Card standings will be posted starting after week 6. Playoffs will constitute weeks NFL regular season weeks 14 through 17. Teams

Determining an Overall Champion:
The 2007-2008 Football Cool Pool Champion will be the winner of the week 17 Championship Game.

Tie Breaking:
In a Game (Weekly):
If there is a tie in a regular season game, the result of the players season teams will be their tie breaker. Whoever's team wins, wins that tie. If the players who tied have the same “Season Team” or both “Season Teams” win or lose, the player highest in points entering the game will win the tie. For week 1 only, the first tiebreaker will be weekly points total from last season. After that will be results of the season teams, as described above.

In a Game (Playoff):
If there is a tie in a playoff game, the tiebreaker will be the final regular season standings of the players “Season Team”. If the players who have tied have “Season Teams” with the same final regular season record then the tiebreaker will be the team’s playoff seeding.
